Educational Background

Dr. Heckler, who is originally from Montreal, received her medical degree from McGill University, graduating on the Dean's Honour List. She went on to complete her Ophthalmology training at Dalhousie University followed by a fellowship in Glaucoma at the University of Alberta, where she learned modern and traditional glaucoma techniques.

Professional Experience

Dr. Lisa Heckler is a Glaucoma Specialist who practices both clinical and surgical glaucoma and general ophthalmology. In addition to her practice at Œil Santé MD, she works at Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal, where she is a Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of Montreal and is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents.

Dr. Heckler performs glaucoma laser treatments, cataract surgery, MIGS (iStents), trabeculectomies, and glaucoma drainage devices. She welcomes consultations from ophthalmologists, optometrists and non-eye care physicians. Dr. Heckler is passionate about preventing glaucoma-related blindness and applies great care towards the quality of life of her patients.

Accomplishments and Awards

Dr. Heckler has a keen interest in teaching and research, for which she has received several awards and publications. She has presented at international meetings and has given lectures in Canada and abroad in Ethiopia and Kenya. Dr. Heckler is also an advocate of global health initiatives and has volunteered in India and across Africa.
